Birth to Age 2: Foundations of Attachment & Sensory Exploration

Goals: Build secure attachment, language exposure, and sensory development
Practices:

  • Daily reading aloud (nursery rhymes, picture books, poetry)

  • No screens at all — focus on eye contact, singing, and physical play

  • Nature walks in a sling or stroller; describe surroundings aloud

  • Gentle routines: bath time, baby powered toys (wood, fabric, natural materials) not battery powered.

  • Encourage solo play with simple objects (blocks, spoons, scarves)

  • Maximise exposure to multiple languages and ideas

Ages 3–5: Imagination, Language, and Social Play

Goals: Develop verbal skills, emotional regulation, and imaginative play
Practices:

  • Daily storytime and library visits; introduce fairy tales and folk stories.

  • No mobile devices and limit TV — use audio stories or music sparingly

  • Encourage dress-up, puppet shows, and role play

  • Outdoor play: gardening, bug hunts, puddle jumping, tree climbing

  • Begin simple chores (feeding pets, tidying toys) to build responsibility

  • Playdates with shared values — focus on cooperative play, not competition

  • Develop multiple languages.

  • Develop routines around community and family.

Ages 6–8: Literacy, Curiosity, and Moral Development.

Goals: Strengthen reading fluency, curiosity, and empathy
Practices:

  • Independent reading time daily; introduce chapter books and biographies

  • Family read-alouds with discussion (e.g., Paddington, Charlotte’s Web)

  • No mobile devices — use printed maps, encyclopedias, and real-world tools

  • Encourage journaling, drawing, and storytelling

  • Nature-based learning: birdwatching, stargazing, seasonal rituals

  • Introduce basic ethics through stories and conversation (e.g., kindness, fairness)

  • Encourage opportunities to contribute to the local community.
